One of the Best Ways to Trade China’s Rare Earth Threat Now
by Ian Cooper
After weeks of intense fighting between the two economic superpowers, major indices are plummeting. All after the press reported the U.S. was considering restrictions on Hikvision – a Chinese surveillance equipment provider – from buying U.S. components.
“The U.S. is considering cutting off the flow of vital American technology to as many as five Chinese companies”, reported Bloomberg, “widening the dragnet beyond Huawei to include world leaders in video surveillance. The Trump administration is concerned about their role in helping Beijing repress minority Uighurs in China’s west.”
However, it appears China isn’t about to back down.
China’s People’s Daily is reporting the country could cut off rare earth minerals.
“We advise the U.S. side not to underestimate the Chinese side’s ability to safeguard its development rights and interests. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!” the People’s Daily said in a commentary titled “United States, don’t underestimate China’s ability to strike back,” as quoted by CNBC.
Should China cut off rare earth supply, it could be disastrous. Remember, rare earths are necessary to build and operate hybrid cars, 700 pounds of neodymium are needed to build a three-megawatt windmill, iPhones, medical devices, computers, and cell phones. "The glass industry is the largest consumer of rare earths. For example, lanthanum makes up as much as 50% of digital camera lenses, including cell phone cameras. Hybrid electric cars use significant amounts of lanthanum in its batteries – 10-15 kilograms per vehicle," said Michael Widmer, metals strategist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, as quoted by CNBC.

The delta and gamma numbers can be expressed into a graph for greater clarity. The delta graph is a result of a gamma graph, however being that these two option Greeks are so interrelated, the focus will be on the delta graph.
The image below shows the delta curve for the put on the left and the call on the right. The X-axis is the stock price raising price to the right, and lowering price to the left. The Y-axis is the delta value. Again, the delta is unable to go above 1.00 (negative for puts) or below .00. The ATM (at-the-money) location is marked, and always has a delta of about .50 (negative for puts).
Thought for the Week: Thought for the Week: The universe knows what you love and what you hate. It knows what you believe. If you start from belief and truth (any truth, no matter how small and fragile a gem it is) you can manifest miracles VERY quickly. This is my affirmation and I see it come true every single day.
So every piece of suggestion and every affirmation you say to yourself… read on a vision board… live through your energy… should contain truth. And don’t think for one moment it needs to be mediocre. Truth can give birth to incredible manifested results.

6) Some profit examples are based on hypothetical or simulated trading. This means the trades are not actual trades and instead are hypothetical trades based on real market prices at the time the recommendation is disseminated. No actual money is invested, nor are any trades executed. Hypothetical or simulated performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. Also, the hypothetical results do not include the costs of subscriptions, commissions, or other fees. Because the trades underlying these examples have not actually been executed, the results may understate or overstate the impact of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading services in general are also designed with the benefit of hindsight, which may not be relevant to actual trading. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. No representation is being made that any person providing a testimonial is likely to continue to experience profitable trading after the date on which the testimonial was provided, and in fact the person providing the testimonial may have experienced losses.
