Chuck Hughes

Chuck Hughes, who started his trading in 1984, was a full-time commercial airline pilot. However, according to Hughes, his job as pilot was quite frustrating sometimes. This is the reason that he wanted to start his own trading. His working schedule of 15 to 17 days off each month used to create a void and trading was the perfect solution for this. Hughes got quick success in trading as he finished 10th in the '85 United States Trading Championship and 3rd in '86 competition with a huge 260% return.

Chuck Hughes also accrued titles in the systems trading in another international trading championship in futures in '94 and '95, the day trading division of '95, and the professional division in '99. In 2003, Chuck Hughes was placed third in the in the same competition for Stock Trading. Then in 2005, 2007 and 2009 he took first once again in the stock trading division.

Despite the fear in the markets, don’t let it get to you. Sit tight and remember that markets are also quite resilient.

Once the panic clears, even more opportunities can be found in the rubble, especially as the economy remains strong. In fact, private companies just added another 241,000 jobs in March 2018, as employment in construction and manufacturing skyrocketed. Every one is so caught up in the fear of a potential trade war that may not come. If you can wait out the panic selling, opportunities can be spotted.

Next, Lee Gettess takes a looks at stocks and bonds for the coming week.

Then, Chuck Hughes explains how to generate income selling option premium.

Last, Andy Chambers shares his Weekly Market Line in the Sand Newsletter.

Panic in the Markets: What Many Investors are Ignoring

by TradeWins Publishing

The other week, we warned that we’d see further chaos in the markets.

We would recommend that you:

- Buy to open the VIX July 18, 2018 22 call options

- Buy the iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX)

- Buy the Pro Shares VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (VIXY)

Each would explode as hoped as markets caved on trade war fears.

In fact, we’re still recommending that you hold those, and accumulate even more not only on the fears of a trade war, but on fear that midterm elections could create a mess, too.

That was well ahead of estimates for growth of 205,000 jobs, and marks the fifth straight month that private payrolls topped 200,000.

Remember that.

At the moment, investors are in panic mode, sending the Dow Jones Industrials down another 500+ points on Wednesday on trade war concerns.

“While corporate fundamentals remain strong, markets are forward looking and the broadening scope of US-China trade tensions is seen as a growing threat to global growth and corporate earnings, forcing equity valuations lower,” said Alec Young, managing director of global markets research at FTSE Russell, as quoted by Market Watch.

The US Money White Strategy

by Chuck Hughes

The following is an excerpt from Chuck Hughes' Ultra-Safe Money Strategies

I would like to introduce you to the US Money White Strategy, which is one of the most profitable and low-risk income strategies I have encountered in my investing career. The White Strategy produced consistent returns during the financial crisis and the severe 2008 – 2009 bear markets. And it produced consistent returns during times of volatile, non-trending markets.

Many investors are not familiar with the concept of selling option premium to generate cash income. Selling option premium is a very simple but lucrative income strategy.

When you sell option premium, you can get paid up to a 20% to 30% cash payment up front when the option is sold. You get to keep this cash payment regardless of the price movement of the underlying stock.

Selling option premium to generate immediate cash income is the ideal strategy for volatile markets and an uncertain economy. We will look at an actual trade example below that allowed me to purchase Morgan Stanley stock at a 30% discount to its current price at that time.

When you buy stock at a 30% discount you can profit if the stock price increases, remains flat or even declines 20% to 25% resulting in a much higher probability that the trade will be profitable. This gives the option income strategy a huge advantage over a stock purchase strategy and allows you to profit in any type of market condition.

The option income strategy works just as well with bearish trades, which allow you to profit in bear markets when stocks and ETFs are declining in price. Bearish income trades not only reduce portfolio risk but can dramatically increase profit opportunities and provide a whole new dimension to income investing.

  4. You should trade or invest only “risk capital” – money you can afford to lose. Trading stocks and stock options involves high risk and you can lose the entire principal amount invested or more.

  5. All investments carry risk and all trading decisions made by a person remain the responsibility of that person. This means the trades are not actual trades and instead are hypothetical trades based on real market prices at the time the recommendation is disseminated. No actual money is invested, nor are any trades executed. Hypothetical or simulated performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. Also, the hypothetical results do not include the costs of subscriptions, commissions, or other fees. Because the trades underlying these examples have not actually been executed, the results may understate or overstate the impact of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading services in general are also designed with the benefit of hindsight, which may not be relevant to actual trading. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading.  TradeWins makes no representations or warranties that any account will or is likely to achieve profits similar to those shown.
